We’re excited to announce our sponsor-led workshops for Ecosystem Day at the upcoming MEST Africa Summit in Nairobi, June 12th, 2019.

Microsoft: how can Microsoft power your startup?
The Microsoft workshop will address how startups can grow and expand their business through Microsoft cloud products, and is suitable for people working in technical teams. This workshop will help you gain a better understanding of Microsoft’s offerings across the continent, and how to leverage their products to grow your company.
ALX: the art of leading in changing times
The ALX session is for entrepreneurs and leaders who want to learn how to lead and innovate in changing times. Business leaders have to constantly be creative and agile in a world of both uncertainty and opportunity, and this interactive workshop will encourage participants to think more creatively, work collaboratively and reflect on how they lead in the midst of inevitable change.
Intel: from datacenter to edge — an optimized path using Intel architecture
The Intel workshop is for enterprise developers and machine learning practitioners who want to learn how to assemble the ideal hardware and software combinations for deep learning applications. The workshop will cover the data science process using Intel’s AI portfolio of processors and optimized software. During this workshop, participants will learn about the data science workflow for an image classification problem, based on a real-world enterprise example.
Liquid Telecom: building IoT devices with Sigfox Connectivity
The Liquid Telecom workshop will bring together engineers and developers from around Nairobi to learn about the basics of Liquid Telecom’s IoT platform and its ability to build IoT devices at scale. Liquid will offer technical training on Liquid Telecom IoT and Cloud platforms, and cover how to integrate your IoT devices with Sigfox Connection. Liquid will also present a few use cases and examples, along with an overview of how you can use the existing IoT open source materials in your next IoT project.
Stratlink: to convert or not to convert? Principles you need to know for your next fundraise
StratLink will facilitate a workshop on convertible notes for early stage companies. The financial instrument has become popular with both investors and entrepreneurs, but what are some of the pros and cons when considering this funding mechanism? The workshop will cover definitions, structures, case studies and facilitate a working session so entrepreneurs can confidently negotiate convertible notes in their next fundraise.
Bonus session: Inside the MEST Training Program
The MEST exhibition will serve as a window into the year-long MEST training program and the lives of Entrepreneurs-In-Training. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from our entrepreneurs about their experiences and growth in the program and beyond as founders in one of our Pan-African incubators, and bring their business ideas to an immersive taste of an empathy mapping and pitch session.
